My birthday was a few weeks ago, and to celebrate, I visited my cousin, Cara, in Newport News and had a great time with her and her husband, Brian. Cara and I went shopping together on my birthday, and I got tons of great stuff! We found some really great deals while we were at the outlet stores in Williamsburg. She and I also visited Colonial Williamsburg one afternoon - fun!
This is a church where several founding fathers attended (at least once)
Cara's in the stocks! She's such a trouble-maker.
It was fun to see people dressed up in colonial costumes!
Visitors to town could participate in wood building activities with the colonial locals.
Cara and I didn't participate - I mean, Cara was in the stocks, so I had to work on the break out and escape plan!
My mom, dad, and one of my aunts and I went to brunch for my birthday just a couple days ago. Some people have a birthday cake, I had a birthday pancake. A sweet potato pancake, no less, along with a spinach omelet. SO yummy!
Speaking of yummy, I have had a craving for some N. African food lately. So...yesterday afternoon, I made my favorite dish: Beef and prunes. It was the first time I'd done it without help, so I was a little nervous. But, it turned out great! My mom, dad, sister, and nephew were at the house, so we ate together the traditional way: no utensils, no plates, and everyone eating out of the same dish with some bread. Fun stuff!
WELCOME TO MOE'S!
My sister doesn't work on Mondays, so every Monday since I've been back in town, we've been hanging out. Usually, we work out together, then pick up Lil P from preschool, and then just hang out for the rest of the day. Today, however, was extra special, because we picked up Lil P before he ate lunch at school and we drove to Blacksburg together. Why Blacksburg, you say? Because that's where the closest Moe's is located! Oh, how I love Moe's! There is nothing like it. I could seriously eat it every other day and be completely happy. Sigh.
Peyton ate some sour snacks...this is his "sour" face. :-) Man, I love this kid.
He's also a great photographer...he took these two pics of Michelle
(with her new 'do! Cute, huh?) and me.
I've had a wonderful time hanging out in Roanoke, but now it's time to head down a little further south and hang out with some friends in North Carolina. I'll be in Raleigh for the next couple of weeks catching up with close friends down there. Can't wait!
